5 TV Shows to Watch During COVID-19

While many of you might have been working from home for a couple of weeks now, I haven’t had to face the reality of a lockdown until yesterday. With much more time on my hands, I figured that I’d spent some of my time on reading and binge-watching TV shows. If you’re anything like me, you will appreciate this list. Without further ado, here’s a list of 5 TV shows to watch during COVID-19 quarantine.

Fans of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are surely familiar with Julie Plec’s newest spin-off. This thrilling drama tells the story of the next generation of vampires, werewolves, and witches. The Salvatore mansion is now a boarding school for supernatural students, and it definitely doesn’t draw any less problems than when Damon and Stefan lived there.

While Legacies is an amazing show on its own, you might as well use your quarantine time wisely — by watching this saga from the very beginning. Let me know if you’re starting back in The Vampire Diaries.

Big Little Lies

This TV show will take your breath away. Starring Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and Zoe Kravitz, Big Little Lies will suck you in and won’t let you go till the very end. Based on the bestselling novel written by Liane Moriarty, it is a darkly comedic story not only about murder, betrayal, and abuse but also about friendship, family ties, and healing. All this takes place in Monterrey, California which makes the setting quite intriguing.

The only downside of this show is the length of it — only 2 very short seasons. If you do decide to watch this, don’t miss out on the soundtrack. Big Little Lies would not be the same without each of the carefully selected songs.

The Handmaid’s Tale

Another spectacular TV show based on a book. Margaret Atwood’s dystopian tale tells the story about a theocratic, futuristic United States, now called Gilead. Because of a very low reproduction rate, fertile women are forced to become Handmaids and bear children for elite couples who have trouble conceiving.

I am not gonna lie. This show will make you question everything. Could this ever happen? How far is too far?

Little Fires Everywhere

Though I’m only a couple of episodes in, I highly recommend this new Hulu production. This show is also based on a book (I swear I don’t do that on purpose). The series features Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington as mothers from very different socioeconomic backgrounds. Secrets are being revealed, family ties tried, and fires are not only figurative.

Katy Keene

I actually had a different show in mind for this post, but when I started writing it, I decided to put Katy Keene on to play in the background. I realised very quickly that this show is not something you want to watch absent-mindedly.

This Riverdale spin-off follows the origins, trials, and tribulations of four struggling artists who are desperate to make it in the spotlight — all that in the magical and lively New York City. Warning! Watching Lucy Hale might give you some major PLL feels.

And here it is! 5 TV Shows to watch during COVID-19 quarantine. Are there any shows that should have made the list? Let me know in the comments!
